Developing Senior Tourism in Remote Regions (TOURAGE)

Established in 1997 the Association of Polish Communes Euroregion Baltic is a specialized non-governmental institution facilitating and strengthening cross-border cooperation of local authorities, as well as economic, social, educational and cultural institutions in the Pomorskie and Warmia-Mazury regions with their counterparts abroad.

 

 

Throughout the years it has been successfully pursuing the goals of improving life conditions for its inhabitants, promoting bonds and contacts among local communities, and providing measures for a more sustainable development in such fields as culture, tourism, environmental protection, entrepreneurship and innovation.  The Association is one of nine member organisations of Euroregion Baltic (ERB), a strong and vibrant cross-border cooperation platform in the area of South Baltic comprising local and regional authorities from five countries.

Since its establishment the Association has been actively participating many different cross-border cooperation initiatives and projects. After its establishment it operated the EU pre-accession programmes and managed parts of the Phare Small Project Fund with 236 projects of 6 MEUR co-financing. Between 2009 - 2011 it managed the Small Cross-border and Inter-Regional Grant Fund within the EEA and Norwegian Financial Mechanisms with more than 80 projects of the total value of 1,8 MEUR. The Association also participated in various international projects, such as: Seagull devERB and Seagull II (INTERREG III B), YC3 – Youth Cross-border Cooperation and Communication and CBP – Capacity Building Project (South Baltic Programme).
