At the beginning of September, Riga will once again become a meeting point for Europe’s leading hydrogen innovators. On 4–5 September 2025, the European Hydrogen Valleys Investment Forum (EHVIF TechTour 2025) will take place in the Latvian capital, bringing together more than 600 participants from across Europe – investors, businesses, researchers, and policymakers. The forum has established itself as a key platform for strengthening interregional cooperation, accelerating the development of hydrogen technologies, and boosting investments in sustainable energy solutions that contribute to Europe’s Green Deal and REPowerEU objectives.
This year’s programme will highlight some of the most pressing topics in the hydrogen sector, including green hydrogen production technologies, storage and transport solutions, its use in mobility and industry, as well as governance models to ensure effective collaboration among diverse partners. One of the discussions on good governance will be moderated by Aivars Starikovs, representative of the Latvian Hydrogen Association and Hydrogen Europe, alongside international experts from across Europe.
Within the forum, the H2Value project, led by the Latvian Hydrogen Association together with partners from Latvia, Estonia, and the Netherlands, will present its latest developments and upcoming plans. The project is entering a new phase – in Jelgava, the first hydrogen-powered bus is already being tested, while preparations are underway to launch hydrogen production from local biomass and to strengthen cross-border cooperation with partners in Estonia. These activities are an important step towards establishing the first cross-border green hydrogen value chain between Latvia and Estonia.
