Project objectives

The project’s overall objective is to improve the implementation of regional development policies in the field of a Greener Europe, in particular renewable energy, by developing planning and permitting decision-enabling criteria and policy instruments for environmental impact assessment categories that support the expansion of innovative photovoltaic (I-PV) systems, while ensuring biodiversity protection.

Activities

  1. Joint knowledge generation, upgrade, and transfer among partner regions.
  2. Comparative studies on regional framework conditions for I-PV.
  3. Development of technical and environmental assessment criteria.
  4. Stakeholder involvement through regional and interregional workshops.
  5. Adaptation of regional policy instruments in 6 regions.
  6. Dissemination of results through digital tools, events, and the Intersolar fair.

Results

  1. Development of 6 improved regional policy instruments for I-PV deployment.
  2. Shared methodology for biodiversity-sensitive assessment of innovative PV projects.
  3. Strengthened capacity of local and regional authorities to balance renewable energy deployment with biodiversity protection.
  4. Increased public acceptance and stakeholder involvement in planning processes.
