The GRACE project is an initiative under the European Union’s Horizon Europe programme, aimed at strengthening the capacity of European regions—particularly rural areas and small-town communities—to adapt to climate change. Within the project, innovative solutions are being developed and tested to help reduce climate risks and promote resilient development — ranging from nature-based solutions to digital tools and community engagement initiatives. GRACE highlights the crucial role of communities in the context of climate change, encouraging residents to actively participate in the development and implementation of solutions in their regions.

The project is structured around three main pillars: community participation and practical adaptation trials; the development of a knowledge and data platform; and skills enhancement and experience exchange between regions. This approach will help create more sustainable and climate-resilient communities by fostering collaboration among citizens, municipalities, and researchers. As a result, the project will strengthen the capacity of local governments, improve understanding of climate challenges, and generate practical solutions that enhance both environmental quality and living conditions in rural areas across Europe.
