On 13 August 2025, Vidzeme Planning Region organised a regional stakeholder visit to Riga within the Interreg Europe project “PICOBELLO.”
Participants explored Kalnciema Quarter and Āgenskalns Market as examples of how New European Bauhaus (NEB) values – sustainability, aesthetics, and inclusion – can be integrated into local urban development.
The visit was led by Una Meiberga, Creative Director of Kalnciema Quarter, who shared insights into place-making, market revitalisation, and the role of cultural spaces in community engagement. Participants also learned about the IN-HABIT project and discussed practical applications of NEB principles in their own municipalities.
This exchange offered inspiration and concrete examples of how local heritage, entrepreneurship, and cooperation can shape better urban environments.
