As part of the Baltic Sea region project “BioBoosters”, last week, on November 16, the “Aloja Starkelsen” hackathon “Kick-off” webinar took place, in which the selected teams, Latvian and foreign mentors, as well as representatives of the company Aloja Starkelsen\u00a0Ltd.\u00a0took part with their challenge presentation.<\/p>\n

During the webinar, the teams introduced themselves and the solutions they plan to develop in order to improve the operation of the CMMS system of\u00a0Aloja Starkelsen\u00a0Ltd. In order to better understand the challenge and better prepare for the upcoming hackathon, during the presentations, both the teams and the representatives of Aloja Starkelsen\u00a0Ltd.\u00a0had the opportunity to ask clarifying questions about the necessary solutions, as well as those already in the development stage.<\/p>\n

At the end of the webinar, the invited mentors also expressed their thoughts of the presentations prepared by the teams. Mentors\u00a0acknowledged that the solutions developed by the teams are very different, but with great potential not only within the framework of the hackathon, but also for future CMMS system solutions.<\/p>\n

In total, nine teams applied to participate in the “Aloja Starkelsen” hackathon, of which five were selected – three from Latvia (VITCAKE<\/a> Ltd., SIA Ecommerce Technologies, AllDevice official representative in Latvia SIA Filter<\/a>) and one from Germany (Fraunhofer IGP) and Finland (Pinja Digital\u00a0Oy). In order to win the main prize – the opportunity to sign a system supply contract with Aloja Starkelsen\u00a0Ltd., the developed solution must meet several evaluation criteria: feasibility of realizing the idea; impact on challenge; cost effectiveness; team performance;\u00a0creativity; efficiency and availability of solutions.<\/p>\n

Hackathon Challenge<\/p>\n

“The company has taken a step in the direction of change and we are increasing our range of products, and also the volume of production, which is the core of this challenge. Considering that Aloja Starkelsen is not a large, global company, there is currently no opportunity to afford internationally developed and expensive IT solutions, but at the same time, we are not a small local company that can work with the current system. With the help of the challenge, we want to find a way to have a predictable and preventive maintenance system for spare parts, tools and production equipment that would work according to our company’ s guidelines, cooperate with other structural units – accounting, production linesand warehouse system, as well as be able to predict the necessary line maintenance and repair needs,” reveals J. Garan\u010ds.<\/p>\n

The “BioBoosters” project was launched in January 2023, it is implemented by partners from Finland, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The project will last three years and its total budget is 2.8 million euros. The project is co-financed by the Interreg Baltic Sea Region Program.<\/p>\n
