Project overall objective
To strengthen the knowledge, skills and engagement of rural communities in biodiversity conservation while promoting its sustainable use for local development.Specific objectives
- Increase public knowledge of local flora, fauna and habitats
- Promote public participation in citizen science initiatives
- Develop and pilot a modular adult education course on biodiversity
- Strengthen cooperation between local communities and researchers
- Collect and promote good practices highlighting the social and economic value of biodiversity

- Research on local flora and fauna and development of digital databases
- Engagement of local communities in citizen science activities, including species monitoring and data collection
- Development and piloting of a modular adult education course
- Public awareness campaigns and international partner workshops
- Collection of good practices demonstrating the social and economic value of biodiversity

- Four transnational workshops implemented
- Four digital databases of local flora and fauna developed
- Four biodiversity awareness campaigns delivered
- Cooperation between researchers and local communities strengthened
- Five citizen science initiatives implemented
- A modular adult education course developed in four versions tailored to the partner territories
- A handbook for course facilitators developed
- The modular adult education course and the BioUP methodology piloted in the four partner territories
