Project objectives
The project aims to improve regional development and promote sustainable urban development by implementing smart street lighting solutions. They will help reduce energy consumption, improve traffic flow and reduce environmental pollution, while supporting the achievement of the European Union's climate goals.Activities
- Promote cooperation and exchange of experience between project partners. Learning good practices, presentation of innovative solutions, study visits to smart mobility centers, energy agencies and other relevant projects.
- Explore how smart lighting can help solve environmental problems in cities - improve energy efficiency, safety and reduce emissions.
- Use smart light poles and artificial intelligence to collect data on traffic and congestion, and use it to improve traffic flow and safety.
- Investigate how smart lighting can be incorporated into urban development projects to obtain data on pedestrian movement, improve public safety, and introduce new, innovative solutions.
- To inform the parties involved in the project and the public about the project's good practice examples and achieved results.
Results
- New and innovative solutions have been mastered in the field of smart lighting and the development of energy-efficient communities, strengthening the capacity of municipalities in implementing these solutions.
- Promoting the planning of a sustainable, safe and citizen-friendly environment by integrating smart technologies and climate neutrality principles.
- Partners good practices and successful examples with potential for transfer and implementation in Latvian municipalities have been identified and evaluated.
- Proposals have been developed for the improvement of the Development Program of the Vidzeme Planning Region, emphasizing the development of energy-efficient and sustainable communities.
- Knowledge has been gained about incorporating sustainability principles into development planning, as well as about adaptation options to the challenges posed by climate change.
- Examples of good practices from Latvia have been identified for potential testing in partner regions, as well as for inclusion in the Policy Learning Platform.
