Accelerating Agritech Evolution in EU Agrifood System (AgriExcel)

The agriculture and food system in Europe faces challenges related to sustainability and competitiveness. To ensure the viability of the sector and its ability to adapt to change, it is essential to strengthen its resilience by promoting targeted digital transformation and the adoption of new technologies. Digitalization and technological implementation support data-driven decision-making, reduce costs, and foster sustainable entrepreneurship. Despite the high potential, technology adoption in rural regions has been slow, primarily due to limited innovation capacity and insufficient cross-sector collaboration, particularly between the information and communication technology (ICT) sector and the agri-food sector. The AgriExcel project promotes this development by strengthening regional policy capacity and advancing digital transformation.
