Regional Self-government

Field of activities

Self –government of Podkarpackie Region is responsible for creation and implementation of a number of regional policies as well as participation in implementation of national policies in the field of:

• regional development policy including elaboration and implementation of Regional Development Strategy and Regional Operational Programme (ERDF)
• tourism, including Strategy of Tourism Development
• regional water management
• regional road management
• regional waste management,
• promotion
• education
• culture
• healthcare

Priorities for international cooperation

Podkarpackie Region carries on multi-directional foreign policy. Undertaken activities primarily include:

• further development of good-neighborly relations with the Republic of Slovakia and Ukraine,
• continuing cooperation with the regions of the European Union (including the Republic of Austria, the Czech Republic, the Federal Republic of Germany, Romania, Hungary, Portugal and the Republic of Italy)
• establishment of cooperation with other regions of European countries (including Croatia).
• development of regional cooperation with selected countries of Eastern Europe (including the Russian Federation, Georgia), as well as countries located in regions of central and eastern Asia.

Podkarpackie Region ia also member of Carpathian Euroregiona and carries on activities in the Assembly of European Regions in Strasbourg.
